VAGABUNT VINTAGE STORE

when looking for outfits to style an advertising shoot, we came across a wonderful little place in zurich's schipfe area we just had to tell you about. we first caught a glimpse of beautiful old luggage and a wall, packed with colourful scarves when we discovered it was a vintage store. we were already in a hurry but too curious to pass by. thank god!

we met a passionate collector, surrounded by the most beautiful and sometimes delicate vintage pieces.

originally an educated interior decorator, stephan schmidt turned his passion for collecting into a part time job by opening a store in september 2010. In the beginning, the range of goods was only a result of his strolling through fleamarkets - nowadays he's also selling pieces, people bring over: hats, shirts, ties, bags, purses, pottery, lighters, poket knives and even stuffed animals.
vagabunt is a magnet, not only for collectors like schmidt himself, but also for people with a taste for the certain something, with a sense of style and especially young graphic designers and hipsters. if you're looking for an old leathery briefcase, this is the place to go to.

of course a collector has certain things he would never ever give away. for stephan schmidt, one of those is the seagull on his desk. it stands for the start of vagabunt and for zurich, the place of his work and being.

SWAROVSKI AURA LAUNCH PARTY

we attended the launch of swarovki's first perfume in zurich. there, we were given the possibility to playfully discover the ingredients to this new scent: lemon, pink pepper, vanilla, roses, and many more. it was a nice event - inspiring scents, delicious food, and tasty drinks. thank you!

BODY BUTTER DUO BY THE BODY SHOP

the body shop body butter was first sold in 1992 and has been a million time since. this spring a new version is being launched: the body butter duo combines two different formulas in one jar. one for dry skin (elbows/knees/legs), one for normal skin. It is available in four different scents: açai, vanilla, macadamia and sweet pea.

i got the açai one for myself. it smells a little to sweet for my taste but has a very light and easily applicable texture. of course the best thing about the whole thing is the 2-in-1 idea. works for me..!

MARC SWAY AT HILFIGER SHOWROOM

hilfiger presented their autumn/winter 2011 range, as usual in a very sympathetic and hearty atmosphere. as a surprise singer/songwriter marc sway played two beautiful songs. thank you for this happy moment! 

HARD NINE - THE MOVIE

danny schneider, a friend from berne, is a chopper freak. due to his insanity and an accident ten years ago that shut him down, he started to make his own customized bikes. he was driven by creating the perfect bike. and he did it. he created this amazing chopper, inspired by his first bmx-bicycle, with glitter and stars. there is no suprise that the crazy and enthusiastic japanese are the biggest fans of his creation and made him a star there. they invited him to tokyo for the biggest bike show mooneyes and he had to give many autographs there. the bernese jan mühlethaler made a documentary about danny, his passion in customizing bikes, his drivenness that stops him from going insane and about his friends in berne. myself i was fascinated by these guys, who where an inspiration for me in the mid 90s, cause they represented craziness, they were (and most of them still are) big boys which never grew up, and they did things nobody would do like skiing in the middle of the city, walking around with cowboy hats, played attacks of banks in snowboard camps, where we spent time together and firing fireworks in their asses before shows like jackass even existed! the movie is interesting for people who know hard nine, or for those who are interested in bike techniques.

DOING FASHION: DOCUMENTARY FILM ABOUT SWISS FASHION SCENE

salvador atasoy, shirin abouzaid and simon egger were doing a documentary "thesis 2011" about the students of the school nordwest-switzerland (HGK). they are taking the viewer behind the scenes. the film is showing the collections of the students, and the jury which is talking about them. the fashion school in basel wants to fight against mindless uniformity and is pushing the students individuality. the school is taking their students on an international standard, they should be able to compete in the international fashion scene and express themselves with their individuality.
this saturday the students are presenting their collections at the diploma show in basel.
